Details

1920s Art Deco reverse etched Alexandrite Glass Cameo, almost certainly manufactured in the Jablonec region of Czechoslovakia.1920s. The Center piece is art glass constructed to create an optical color shift.

Indoors (Cognac and Opaque): When looking at the pendant under normal ambient room light, you are viewing it from the front. The unpolished, frosted texture of the goddess profile acts like an opaque shield. It absorbs and diffuses the indoor lighting across the flat surface, keeping the light from traveling deep into the stone. Because the glass itself is formulated with a rich, dense cognac/gold pigment, the light scatter makes the entire stone appear dark and solid.

   Outdoors (Purple and Transparent):

The moment you step into the sunlight—or hold the pendant up to a light source—light rays are powerful enough to punch directly through the frosted top. They pass through the body of the stone and strike the cushion-cut facets on the back. Those polished rear facets act exactly like a hall of mirrors, redirecting the light and reflecting it straight back out toward your eyes. This sudden internal reflection washes away the opaque appearance, making the stone look crystal clear while triggering the rare-earth minerals (like neodymium) to shift into their faint purple daylight spectrum.

The state-regulated jewelry guilds in regions like Jablonec and Nisou stamped their pieces to verify authenticity. The "spiky sun" emblem was a classic geometric hallmark used by specific Bohemian factories, while the "blended initials" represent a monogram logo of the master artisan who pressed the die-struck metal filigree frame. This hallmark is visible on the rear of the pendant.

It is missing its original 1920s chain, the standalone value adjusts slightly, but its superb technical traits make it highly desirable still.

This is a verified, museum quality, beautifully engineered piece of Art Deco history that literally changes its soul when it steps into the sunshine!
